In all, 23 individuals will be recognized by President Eastwood for distinguished service to Upstate Medical University. The Upstate community is welcome to attend. A reception will follow in the Weiskotten Hall courtyard.

Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital patient goes to class
Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital patient, seven-year-old Kane Wolf, did not miss a beat on his first day of second grade. Kane has been hospitalized for two weeks while he receives chemotherapy to treat neuroblastoma. The dedicated school room and teacher, Mary Ellen Michalenko, help to bridge the gap between hospitalizations and the classroom. Michalenko said allowing patients to continue schooling during treatments is both empowering and comforting.

Annual Radiothon for Kids set to air Sept. 10, 11
In its 12-year run, The Radiothon for Kids has raised more than $750,000 from the community to support the care and amenities for children treated at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.

Upstate study looks at interactions between rural setting and clinical training of students
Upstate's RMED program places students from Upstate's Syracuse and Binghamton campuses into private offices and small rural hospitals for a 36-week period of clinical training. The program has been running for 25 years.

Kidney disease research leads to fellowship for Upstate student
Upstate Medical University College of Graduate Studies student, Jing Bi Karchin, has received a two-year fellowship from the American Hart Association.
