Neuroscience Program

Francesca Pignoni, PhD
Francesca Pignoni, PhD
Program Director

The graduate program in Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental program with three main areas of focus:Cell and Molecular Neuroscience, Development and Regeneration, and Integrative Systems Neuroscience.

Across these areas, our researchers use state-of-the-art approaches to understand basic and complex aspects of brain function, and discover new insights into the potential causes, biomarkers, and treatments for diseases of the nervous system. Particular faculty strengths include research related to degenerative retinal and eye diseases, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, alcohol and substance abuse, schizophrenia, major depression, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and Parkinson's disease.
