Who's Who in the EPO—Deb Killian
Residency Program Administrator
Allow me to tell you a little about myself… I have been employed here going on 18 years! I absolutely love my job! You have all met me now, so my secret is out… I love to talk!!! I am very social by nature, and love to interact with people. This comes in very handy on interview days, however my family might disagree that my love for talking is always a good thing! I have a beautiful teenage daughter, Dakota, who keeps me on my toes when I am not at work. I am also appreciative to share my life with my boyfriend, Brian and his teenage son, Garrett! We may not be the traditional family, but I am proud to call them my family! You will meet them all at the Orientation Picnic. I am lucky enough to have my immediate family in close proximity too… my Mother, Sister, Brother, Sister-in-law and Niece all live within 15 minutes of me, and I wouldn’t want it any other way! Family is very important to me, whether it’s my own personal family, or what I consider my second family… the Upstate Family!
I am so excited to welcome you all to our “Upstate Family”. I look forward to getting to know all of you, learn more about you, meet your family, and learn about some of your personal interests! The regular working day does not offer much time for chatting or mingling, but I take full advantage of opportunities outside of work to get to know you. I highly encourage you to do the same. Our residents are great at organizing group functions and if I can offer any advice, it would be to take advantage of these opportunities to join in and get to know your colleagues.
I believe that balance in your life between work and your personal life is very important. Without balance, you eventually burnout negatively, which ultimately affects your performance at work!
