ACLS

ACLS

As a new member of the Internal Medicine Department at SUNY Upstate Medical University, you are required to take an ACLS Provider course.

Your ACLS Provider training has been scheduled for Thursday, June 26th and Friday, June 27th from 7:45 am to 4:00 pm. Please arrive promptly at 7:45 am for pre-course check-in.

The ACLS course is conducted by the EmStat Center, 550 East Genesee Street.

The EmStat Center is part of the Department of Emergency Medicine, SUNY Upstate Medical University.

You will receive a welcome/reminder letter from the EmStat Center prior to your course date via email. In the letter, you will be asked to purchase an ECC handbook. You don’t need to purchase the book as the Department of Medicine will provide you with an ECC Handbook for the course. Your book will be distributed by the EmStat Center staff on the first day of ACLS Provider training. The book is yours to keep. Please keep it in a safe place as you will need it again for a refresher course during your second year of training.

ACLS Provider certification is only valid for 2 years and all residents are required to take an ACLS refresher to recertify during the latter part of your R2 year. Our Chief residents will arrange for your refresher course. They will send half of the R2’s in April and the other half in May so that we will still have sufficient house-staff to cover essential services in the department.

If you have any questions, please email the chief resident at: resident@upstate.edu
