LinkAges: An innovated approach to teaching geriatrics in undergraduate medical education.

LinkAges is a new program that enhances the knowledge base and skill set of traditional medicine by providing students with a heightened awareness of and increased sensitivity to issues unique to the elderly. These sessions are hosted at two senior housing facilities in Syracuse: GreenPoint Senior Living, a well elder living community and James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing home. Students will experience very different home settings and challenges and thereby be better able to understand various geriatric syndromes or conditions which do not fall within the purview of traditional medical education.
