Events—Recent Student Awards

 

William Wu - John Bernard Henry MD Endowed Scholarship  (College of Medicine), 2008.

Heidi Zapata -  Dr. Stuart I. Gurman Award for high scholastic achievement who best showed a continuous interest and activity in art, music, literature or public interest, realizing that living and learning go together, 2008.

Marla Bruns - Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award for demonstrating the highest standard of compassion and sensitivity in their interaction with patients, 2008.

Marla Bruns - The American Academy of Neurology Medical Student Prize for Excellence in Neurology is awarded annually to a graduating medical student who exemplifies outstanding scientific achievement and clinical acumen in neurology or neuroscience, and outstanding personal qualities of integrity, compassion and leadership, 2008. 

Adam Gerber - Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Award is presented for outstanding achievement in the molecular foundations of medicine, 2008.

Mercer

Marla Bruns MSIV has been selected by her classmates to membership in the Gold Humanism Society. The Gold Humanism Honor Society honors medical students for "demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service." 2007.

Stephen Mercer received 2 commencement awards at graduation ceremonies on May 20th, 2007. Steve was the recipient of the John Bernard Henry MD Endowed Scholarship from the College of Medicine College of Medicine. He also was honored with The Pathology Award—presented by the Pathology Medical Service Group to a graduating medical student for outstanding academic achievement in pathology and laboratory medicine.

Becky Lewandowski has received a Predoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association. Her proposed research project is titled: The characterization of a novel peptide on the electrophysiological behavior of cardiac myocytes
