Mind Body Self-Care Community Program for Breast Cancer Survivors

A free community program in holistic health now available for breast cancer survivors is made possible by a grant to the Mind Body Health Alliance from CNY Komen for the Cure. Monthly programs in research based Mind Body Self-Care will be held the first Monday of each month 6-7:30PM at Medical Center West, 5700 West Genesee Street in Camillus. There will also be an 8-week intensive training program Mondays during September and October. All sessions are free but pre-registration is requested.

Breast cancer survivors will learn how to fight stress, strengthen resilience, and feel more in control. Mind/body self-care practices include meditation, mindfulness, positive thinking, exercise, nutrition. Breast cancer survivors can come to one or all group sessions. Pre-registration requested. Upcoming fall sessions to be held September 8th and October 6th.

The Mind Body Health Alliance was awarded a one-year grant from Central New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, to conduct a mind/body self-care program modeled after the breast cancer programs of the Mind Body Medical Institute in Boston, Mass. and recent research at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Program instruction will be provided by Marnie Blount-Gowan, mind/body researcher and community coordinator of the Mind Body Health Alliance.
