The Synapse was founded and named by Library Director Suzanne H. Murray in 1995. It has been edited since its inception by Eric v.d. Luft and co-edited since vol. 4, no. 3 (Summer 1998) by Diane Davis Luft, who was known through vol. 7, no. 4 (Fall 2001) as Diane K. Hawkins and for vol. 8, no. 1 (Winter 2002) and no. 2 (Spring 2002) as Diane K. Davis. Rebecca Kindon has been the Associate Editor since this position was created for vol. 11, no. 2 (Fall 2005).
In this archive of electronic back issues of the Synapse, some formatting has been changed to keep pace with current Web authoring practices, but no content has been changed except to update URLs for hot links. Most links from Vol. 1 (1995) to Vol. 5 (1999) have been disabled.
Anyone who wishes to see an original back issue of the print version of the Synapse is encouraged to visit the University Archives, Department of Historical Collections, 2nd Floor, Health Sciences Library, Weiskotten Hall.
