Reference Services - Computer Searches

Contact the Reference staff to request a search of the biomedical literature, normally ready within 24 hours. For Upstate or VA faculty and staff, there is no charge for searches on in-house databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, or Web of Science. For commercial databases, cost recovery charges apply. Unaffiliated individuals may request a search of any in-house database for a fee of $25.00 per search.

Five good reasons to request a literature search:

1. If you have a difficult or complex search
2. If you have searched on your own but missed important articles
3. When it is essential that your search be comprehensive, as for a research grant or systematic review
4. If you have not had time to become familiar with our search system
5. If you simply prefer to spend your time and effort on other priorities
