OpenLinks Adds to Full Text Available on Ovid Web

For several years, Upstate affiliated staff have been using full text links to complete text and images from Ovid bibliographic databases (such as MEDLINE) but there were no direct links to journals not licensed by Ovid.

With the implementation of Ovid's new OpenLinks software, the number of journals available in full text on OvidWeb has now more than doubled. Using OpenLinks, electronic full text subscriptions purchased by the Library from the publisher are identified. Once the OpenLinks are configured and activated for a publisher and database, live links to external full text articles are created in real time and added to Ovid search results.

The OpenLinks full text link appears on the blue line under the citation following the Abstract and Complete Reference. OpenLinks full text is available in HTML and PDF format, according to the format supplied by the publisher. A link to the Journal website is also provided, so that the archived journal contents may be browsed using publisher-supplied search software.
