  • This 3D model demonstrates how angioplasty works.
  • In cutaway form, first see an artery clogged with plaque.
  • Next, the artery is shown with a balloon catheter in place.
  • The third stage depicts the artery with the plaque pushed back against the arterial walls as it would be after the balloon had been inflated and deflated a number of times to clear a pathway for blood.
  • Overall dimensions are 12"x 9"

This patient education model, and others, may be borrowed from the Health Information Center for 1 week. If there are questions about these models or other HIC services contact us: 464-4410 or E-mail: hic@upstate.edu
