Get on the MOVE! Men's Health

June 12-18th is National Men's Health Week, a good reminder to take a look at your health!

One in three Americans is obese…are you one of them? Can you pinch more than inch of body fat at your waist? A man's waist measurement divided by his hip measurement should be less than 0.9

If you have a spare tire hanging around your waist maybe it's time to get moving and lose weight.

Reducing your excess body weight by just 5-10% can lower your risk of many health problems including heart disease. So don't just sit there…get moving!

Ten Healthy & Manly Reasons to Get Moving and Lose Weight this Year:

1. Reduces your risk of a stroke

2. Reduces your risk of a heart attack

3. Reduces your risk of diabetes

4. Improves your blood circulation

5. Decreases incidents of sleep disorders

6. Helps relieve arthritis and reduces joint pain

7. Helps keep blood pressure under control

8. Reduces shortness of breath upon exertion

9. Helps you feel more energetic

10. Helps improve your self-esteem…you'll look & feel marvelous!

Play safe:

  • Summer brings with it the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the good weather.
  • Before you go out and become a "weekend warrior" remember some basic health tips:
  • Don't overdo it in one day-pace yourself.
  • Drink plenty of water or other fluids (not beer) to help your body cool down.
  • If you're playing a sport, be sure to use the proper equipment (helmet, knee pads, etc.)
  • Always use sunscreen.
