Electronic Databases

Guidelines for Searching Electronic Databases

Electronic databases are used to search for information contained in journals and books. Databases allow the user to enter terms or concepts and retrieve related bibliographic citations, and in some cases, full text articles. The databases available in the Health Sciences Library are produced by different vendors and often require different search strategies. Ovid

Primarily bibliographic databases, but with links to some full-text articles. Databases include MEDLINE, CINAHL, Journals@Ovid, HAPI, EBM Reviews, and other health related databases. Search Guide

InfoTrac

InfoTrac has both full text articles and abstracts. Databases include Health Reference Center Academic. Search Guide

FirstSearch 

Gateway to a variety of bibliographic databases, inclusing PsycINFO, ERIC, WorldCat and more... Search Guide

ProQuest

Gateway to full text articles and abstracts in newspapers and periodicals. Databases include ABI/Inform, AMA Publications, PA Reaserch II, and ProQuest. Search Guide
