Decision Support Systems (DSS)
Decision Support Systems provides hospital departments with the tools, technology, and applications to access clinical, financial, and administrative information on a timely basis. The development of an enterprise data repository makes information available to support the hospital's critical planning, management, and decision-making activities. Decision Support programmers and analysts assist departmental users in determining the information necessary to satisfy specific business requirements and reporting needs.
Products
The products DSS offers are both built by IMT and purchased through different information systems vendors. All systems and databases are maintained by the DSS Department. Please contact the DSS Department for access to any of these systems, through the Helpdesk, at extension 4-4115.
Data Warehouse
The Data Warehouse is an Oracle 10 Database containing current and historical, clinical and financial information populated from the IBAX, SMS(CAIS), Softmed, and Medic information systems.
User Tools
Horizon Business Insight (HBI) is a Web Portal from McKesson Incorporated. It allows the display of reports, the interactive running of reports, and cubes of data to be accessed by the end user. HBI provides web access to all DSS Reports.
Infomaker is a tool from Sybase Inc. 
and is the report writing standard at Upstate Medical University. It is a flexible query and report writing tool that also provides the ability to create your own databases.
