Enterprise Applications

The following is a brief description of our enterprise applications. In many cases, department-specific applications are also used throughout the Institution.

Employees will be given access to applications depending on their job responsibilities. Applications for accounts can be found under IMT Forms.

CAIS/WebCAIS/CPOE – The Clinical and Administrative Information System (CAIS) is SUNY Upstate's main hospital information system. WebCAIS is a web enabled system that allows access to patient treatment, results, and financial activity. WebCAIS is provided to Upstate staff and affiliates who require access for essential job responsibilities related to patient care. This system is also used for Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE). CPOE has been deployed throughout University Hospital as of the end of 2005, and is used to automate the process for ordering tests on patients.

GroupWise – Upstate Medical University utilizes Novell's GroupWise for its email messaging system. GroupWise is a collaboration and messaging application and has a universal mailbox to help manage email, schedules, phone messages, and tasks.

Business ObjectsBusiness Objects is the reporting system for managers and administrators to generate financial and patient reports for analysis.

Lawson – The Lawson system is used by the Hospital for Lawson Materials Management, Web Requisitioning and Electronic Data Interchange. The UMAS practices use Lawson for general ledger and accounts payable information.

My Upstate (Banner)My Upstate, formerly the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) provides an administrative suite of student information, financial aid, and financial information in a single database.

Novell/NDS – Novell is the network security, printing, and file storage system. Most users need a Novell/NDS account to access the network. Novell file servers provide departments with shared storage space for saving files and information.

PACS – Fuji PACS is the Radiology digital imaging/x-ray system. It allows staff to view detailed electronic x-ray images throughout the institution.

Self ServeSelf Serve is a web-based solution for employee information on vacation and sick time, education records, paycheck history, password reset questions, time reporting, and other administrative information.

SoftMed – SoftMed's Electronic Signature Authentication (ESA) enables providers to review, edit and electronically sign patient documents, facilitating timely authentication and improved document turnaround. WebESA delivers secure, easy-to-use electronic signature functionality to remote users via the Internet or an intranet.
