The Institute for Cardiovascular Research offers interdisciplinary training and support programs for graduate students, medical students, postdoctoral students and clinical scientists.

Students come from more than 20 countries. Many are physicians-in-training cardiology fellows, who have completed medical school and residency, and intend to practice cardiology but want to learn basic cardiac electrophysiology.

Other students include scientists with PhDs seeking postdoctoral training and graduate students pursuing PhDs. As part of the College of Graduate Studies one of four colleges on the SUNY Upstate campus ICR faculty members teach laboratory research, computational research and elective courses in cardiovascular science. Students meet regularly to present research papers to ICR faculty and present their work at scientific meetings. Graduates of the ICR go on to highly-coveted positions in academics and industry.

ICR graduates work at some of the most prestigious institutions and corporations in America. Recent appointments include:

Research Fellow, School of Public Health, The Johns Hopkins University
Assistant Professor of Cardiology, New York University
Medical Resident, University of Rochester
Cardiology Fellow, Yale University
Instructor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Department of Medicine Assistant, Massachusetts General Hospital
Assistant Professor of Bioengineering, University of Alabama at Birmingham
