Cheryl DePalma

Cheryl DePalma has been part of Upstate Medical University for 23 years. She began her career in Hospital Purchasing, transitioned to the department of Neurology and for the past 12 years, Cheryl has been a Purchase Assistant for the Campus Purchasing Department. In her current role, she handles the purchasing for the educational, research and administrative areas at Upstate. Some of her purchasing duties include: lab supplies, Freezer/Supply Program, animals, subscriptions/memberships and Staples supply. She works side-by-side with many Upstate employees across campus in order to meet all their purchasing needs.

When asked what she enjoys most about her position and Upstate, Cheryl replied, “Upstate feels like a family to me. I work with a great group of colleagues and really enjoy the “people” aspect of my position. I’m in constant contact with Upstate members and outside vendors on the phone and have forged some great working relationships with them. Most of them I have never met in person, but have talked to for years. I have found everyone to be very friendly and I do everything I can to meet their needs.”

In her spare time, Cheryl's hobbies include reading, cooking and baking. During the holiday season she enjoys baking and sharing cookie trays with her fellow coworkers. In addition, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her 3 year-old grandson who lives in New Jersey. When asked what she would like people to know about her, Cheryl replied, “I will be retiring at the end of December. This will provide me with the opportunity to spend lots of time with my grandson, but I will miss my colleagues as well as the relationships I have established with Upstate Staff and our outside vendors.”

Cheryl, we thank you for 23 years of dedicated service to Upstate and for providing the Upstate community with such great customer service. We wish you much happiness and health as you embark on your new journey.
