Kristine Brindak, RN, MS, CNS

Kristine Brindak, RN, MS, CNS began her career at Upstate 19 years ago when she joined the Clinical Research Unit as a staff nurse for 10 years and subsequently as unit manager for 6 years. In 2008, she transitioned to the role of Clinical Educator in Organizational Training and Development. In her current role, Kris, along with her colleagues, is responsible for the centralized coordination of clinical educational activities including curriculum development, design, and facilitation aimed to develop the expertise of patient care staff at University Hospital. Some examples include Clinical Hands on Practice (CHOP), Nursing Service Orientation (NSO), Educational Fairs, CPR training and facilitating education initiatives implemented by the Nursing Department.  In addition to hospital-wide education, Kris works closely with the Clinical Trainers and Nurse Managers of the medical units to facilitate any clinical educational needs. She also participates on various committees to ensure educational components are incorporated. Given her vast experience in evidence based practice and literature reviews, she is also a member of the Nursing Research Interest Group.

When asked what she enjoys most about her position, Kris replied, “I really enjoy the team of Clinical Educators I work side-by-side with. Our group has great cohesiveness and we are able to bounce thoughts and ideas off each other. I also appreciate the challenge my role brings, as well as the opportunities I have to constantly learn. This role requires me to be knowledgeable in many clinical areas and I really enjoy facilitating a variety of trainings and workshops."

In her spare time, Kris enjoys spending time at home with her husband George and two sons: Michael, a Micro-Electronic Engineer who lives in Rochester, and Steven, a senior at Clarkson University studying to become a Civil Engineer. When asked what she would want people to know about her, she replied “I am a positive minded, people person and very much enjoy working with others in a team environment.”

Kris, we thank you and the dedicated team of Clinical Educators for your many contributions and commitment to Upstate!
