Lou Ann Trumble

Lou Ann Trumble joined Upstate University Hospital 15 years ago as an Environmental Services Cleaner in the Cardiopulmonary ICU. Within 3 years she transferred to the Bone Marrow Transplant unit, where she has remained for the past 13 years.

In her role, Lou Ann is responsible for ensuring the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and its patient rooms are clean and disinfected in order to reduce the risk of infection. While performing these tasks, Lou Ann makes sure patients are very satisfied with the cleanliness of their room. She makes it a point to provide good customer service by listening to what the patients have to say. Lou Ann feels that “at the end of the day, it’s all about the patient.”

When asked what she likes best about her role and Upstate, Lou Ann replied, “I work in a very friendly environment. The nurses are great and I have a good relationship with them. I’ve established a relationship with our patients as well, and they let me know when they are not happy. It feels like we are a family.  Over the past 15 years I’ve made lots of friends here at Upstate.”

In her spare time, Lou Ann enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to golf, go on cruises and road trips where she can see parts of our country. When asked what she would like people to know about her, she replied, “I am very dedicated to Upstate and love what I do. I wouldn’t want to do anything else. I used to work in a factory and coming to Upstate was the best choice I ever made. My priority is to make our patients happy they chose Upstate for their care. When patients are ready to leave the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit they let me know they are scared because their house isn’t as clean as the unit. They always ask me to come home with them and clean their house. I consider that a really nice compliment.”

Lou Ann, we thank you for your commitment to Upstate and for always putting our patients first. Your dedication to ensuring a clean and pleasant environment for our patients and staff at University Hospital is greatly appreciated.
