Trisha Torrey—About the Host

Syracusan Trisha Torrey, known as Every Patient's Advocate™, writes a Syracuse, NY Post-Standard column by the same name every other Tuesday in the CNY section, is the About.com guide to patient empowerment, and is writing a book on patients being their own best advocate.  She was spurred into becoming an outspoken patient advocate due to what turned out to be a misdiagnosis of a rare form of cancer.

Through several means—SUNY Upstate Medical University’s HealthLink On Air radio show being one of them—Trisha provides information and practical suggestions to help health care consumers understand health care issues and controversies, to take greater responsibility for their medical decisions, and, importantly, to partner with their doctors to attain the best outcomes possible.
