Upstate Active Clinical Trials

Study Title:

A single-center in vitro study to evaluate the level of expression of CD11b in neutrophils of children less than 2 years of age with viral respiratory tract infections

What is the purpose of the study? (in Layman's terms, please describe the study)

In this study, assessing the level of the adhesion molecules in the white blood cells that is known to cause significant damage in the lungs during the viral infection is important. It will aid in the possibility of drug development that may target these adhesion molecules and can help in improving the clinical symptoms and severity of these infections. We will do this by studying blood samples collected from children with viral respiratory tract infections.
