Health and Wellness

Upstate Medical University is committed to improving the health and wellness of staff and students through promoting health measures such as:

  • Immunization status determination
    1. An antibody titer is a measure of antibodies found in the blood to reflect evidence of immunity, specific to a disease.
    2. Presence of sufficient antibodies indicates evidence of effective immunization.
    3. Insufficient antibodies indicate the need for additional vaccination.
  • Adequate vaccination is required for Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), and Varicella (Chicken Pox), and is administered if indicated.
  • Hepatitis B immunity is offered to all healthcare workers at risk for exposure.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TDAP) is encouraged and offered to all personnel.
  • Tuberculosis screening is carried out prior to medical clearance and annually thereafter.
