
Health and Wellness
Upstate Medical University is committed to improving the health and wellness of staff and students through promoting health measures such as:
- Immunization status determination
- An antibody titer is a measure of antibodies found in the blood to reflect evidence of immunity, specific to a disease.
- Presence of sufficient antibodies indicates evidence of effective immunization.
- Insufficient antibodies indicate the need for additional vaccination.
- Adequate vaccination is required for Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), and Varicella (Chicken Pox), and is administered if indicated.
- Hepatitis B immunity is offered to all healthcare workers at risk for exposure.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TDAP) is encouraged and offered to all personnel.
- Tuberculosis screening is carried out prior to medical clearance and annually thereafter.
