Graduate Student Association
Devoted to increasing interaction among graduate students, events sponsored include orientation get-togethers, class socials, an annual picnic and the GSA-sponsored annual speaker each May.
The Association administers scholarships, loan funds and student activity fees, and sponsors special projects.
Upstate Student Government
The student government for all students at SUNY Upstate. The purpose and function of this organization is to serve as a forum for student opinion, to facilitate cooperation and communication with the administration, faculty and community and to collect and allocate the student activity fee to classes, events, programs and recognized organizations.
Each year the Graduate Student Association honors three students with awards at the College of Graduate Studies' Convocation.
The awards are:
- Research Presentation Award: $500 Award for the best scientific presentation displaying excellence in presentation style, logic and feasibility of technique, scientific significance and clarity of purpose.
- Professional and Public Service Award: $250 Award for volunteer service based on length of service, duties performed, training required and benefits to others.
- Written Research Proposal Award: $500 Award for the best scientific paper based on clarity of presentation, logic of technique, significance and relevance, and creativity.
