The Communication Disorder Unit (CDU) offers diagnostic and therapeutic services
for hearing, speech and/or language disorders.
Speech-related conditions include:
- Assessments of impaired or delayed language
- Delayed or distorted sound production
- Craniofacial anomalies such as cleft lip or palate
Hearing-related services include:
- Central auditory testing
- Evaluation of hearing sensitivity
- Cochlear implant rehabilitation
A licensed social worker offers supportive services to patients and their families through counseling, and follow-up with community resources. The CDU accepts
referrals from physicians or schools, and also self-referrals.
The Communication Disorders Unit provides:
- Comprehensive Speech and Language Evaluations
- Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Stuttering
- Evaluation and treatment for Feeding and Swallowing Disorders
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Voice Disorders
In collaboration with audiology, the language assessment portion for central auditory processing disorders is performed.
