How Do Children Get Lead Poisoning?

Young children, especially babies and toddlers, put everything in their mouth!! Houses or apartments built before 1978 may have old layers of paint with lead in them. If your little ones put tiny paint chips or their fingers that have dust from that paint in their mouths, lead poisoning can occur.

If you live in an older house, or your child has day care in an older home, learn what the lead hazards might be and how you can protect your young child.

Please read the newsletters here to learn more about how to protect your children and how to get blood lead tests done at ages 1 year AND 2 years of age.
