Child Life Program

The Child Life Program helps young patients cope with their fears and anxieties by offering pre-operative sessions and therapeutic activities that are tailored to meet their social, emotional, and developmental needs.

Support Services Provided

• All Child Life staff are certified by the Child Life Council
• Child Life services are provided 7 days a week including holidays
• Community events, special events and entertainers provided on a regular basis
• Full-time board certified music therapist and school teacher on staff
• Grief and bereavement support provided and school re-entry sessions
• One and only Child Life internship in CNY
• One and only hospital in NYS to offer Special Needs Advocacy Program (SNAP)
• Only Emergency room in CNY to offer Child Life services
• Playrooms stocked with toys, books and crafts
• Various staff members are trained to provide Reiki and infant massage
• Zoo to You Program offered and only hospital in CNY to have this implemented
