Music Therapy
Music therapy is used with hospitalized children to help relieve pain and discomfort, assist in physical rehabilitation, reduce stress and anxiety, promote positive changes in mood and emotional wtates, as an emotional outlet for coping with hospitalization, participate in familiar interaction with family and peers, and prepare for tests and procedures.
The music therapist is a professional who has graduated from an approved music therapy degree program and has passsed a national certification examination. The music therapist works closely with child life specialists, doctors, nurses, and other professionals in treatment planning and evaluation.
