Reach Out and Read Program

The Reach Out and Read Program emphasizes to parents the importance of reading to their children from birth. This national program focuses on reading at the Pediatric Well Child appointments.

Physicians are trained on all aspects of early literacy and development that they pass along to the parents, volunteer readers who provide a positive role model for parents while they wait in the waiting room. Appropriate books are given to the children when they come to the clinic for a Well Child exam.
