Fellows have the opportunity to provide culturally sensitive general pediatric care in a longitudinal experience at the Onondaga Nation Health Center, an outpatient health care clinic on the Onondaga Nation. Fellows are immersed in a collaborative model with child psychiatry and work with community leaders and primary care providers to reduce health disparities for children, adolescents and families at the Nation. Other unique clinical opportunities include experience within a multidisciplinary clinic providing primary care medical services to children in foster care, a dedicated service for refugees, and an Adolescent Medicine Program with expertise in transgender health services.

Upstate offers the only regional pediatric emergency department, a poison control center and a 24/7 Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. Inpatient experiences for the fellow include consultations requested by Upstate's Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Surgery team, Burn Surgery team and Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine team.
