Restricted Funds

The Foundation manages hundreds of restricted funds established at varying levels. A restricted fund may be established for a minimum of $500, and has a specific purpose designated for spending. These funds do not earn interest, they are not assessed administrative fees, and there are no spending limits. However, once the money in a fund is spent and no future contributions are expected, the account will be closed.

Non-Restricted Funds

Outright gifts and general contributions in which the donor does not identify a specific purpose will be used to support the overall operations of the Foundation.

Fund Coordinators

Each fund managed through the Foundation is monitored by a fund coordinator who is a member of the Upstate Medical University staff. Fund coordinators direct and approve all expenditures and distributions from an assigned fund and monitor the fund’s annual needs. Coordinators receive quarterly reports of their fund’s activity.
