About the Foundation

Founded in 1976 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, the Upstate Medical University Foundation provides different avenues of receipt for private contributions.

The dedicated Foundation staff members and board:

  • Manage over 500 funds
  • Conduct multi-year, million-dollar endowment campaigns
  • Administer alumni associations for the colleges of nursing and health professions
  • Implement named giving and planned giving programs
  • Coordinate and manage annual campaigns
  • Sponsor several major fundraising events annually
In addition, the Foundation is also the development office for the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, which is a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. The Foundation hosts a multitude of fundraising events throughout the year to support sick and injured children at the hospital.

SUNY Upstate Medical University receives only less than one-fifth of its annual budget from the state; which is not sufficient to satisfy the needs of the university. As a result, the university is extremely dependent on other means of support ranging from donors and grateful patients, to devoted volunteers, loyal employees, active board members, and others.

That is the reason why YOU are so important to the university and the community we serve. YOU can touch the lives of so many through your support.
