| James L. Greenwald, MD |

Dr. Greenwald was appointed Director of RMED March 1, 2004. An alumnus of the College of Medicine at SUNY Upstate, Dr. Greenwald has worked in the Department of Family Medicine since completing a residency in Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota in June, 1981. He has been course director for all of our required predoctoral courses and was the Interim RMED Course Director from October 2003 to February 2004. He has written a number of review articles and book chapters, performed original research on family systems, and is a Clinical Associate Professor. He is a trombone player in the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble and Chairman of the Board of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Greenwald has received numerous honors including the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. |
| L. Thomas Wolff, MD |

Dr. Wolff is a Distinguished Teaching Professor of the Department of Family Medicine and the Director Emeritus of the Rural Medical Education Program (RMED). He graduate from Siena College, received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, and completed his residency in Family Practice at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse. Dr. Wolff served in the Office of The Surgeon General (Department of the Army, Washington, DC). In 1973, he joined the faculty at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse where he served as Chairman of the Department from 1973-1985. He is the founding Director of the RMED program which started in 1989. Dr. Wolff is a national leader in family practice education having played a major role in the establishment of seven family practice residencies within the United States Army System, having served the American Academy of Family Physicians as a Residency Assistance Program consultant for 20 years, as well as serving as President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine from 1985-1986. He was a member of the New York State Governor's Health Care Advisory Board from 1990 until 1994. He currently is the President of the American Board of Family Practice (ABFP), and is a representative to the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). |
| Peter G. Beatty, Ph.D. |

Peter G. Beatty, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Family Medicine, joined the Department as an education specialist in 1983. He is currently Associate Director of the RMED program with responsibility for day-to-day administration and program evaluation. He is also Director of the Central Region Program Office of the New York State AHEC program, with responsibility for establishment and support of two community based Area Health Education Centers in the 19 county Central Region. From July 1998 through November 1999 he also served as Interim Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education for the College of Medicine. For many years he has been the chief grant writer for the Department's federal Predoctoral Education and Faculty Development grant applications. He has served as the Department's representative to the Educational Policies Committee, and currently is a member of its Subcommittee on Faculty Development. He also interviews approximately 20 medical school applicants each year, supervises work-study medical students, and serves on the Department's Appointments and Promotions Committee.

| Joshua Steinberg, MD |

Joshua Steinberg, MD, family doctor and Associate Professor of Family Medicine, was an RMED student himself as a SUNY Upstate student. Now he practices full spectrum family practice and has a number of teaching activities. In addition to coordinating RMED sites, Josh enjoys teaching weekly small group sessions of 2nd year Introduction to Clinical Medicine, daily hosting of 3rd year clerks in office practice, and residency teaching and precepting. When not playing doctor or teacher, Dr. Steinberg enjoys running, biking, cooking, rowing, and triathlons. |
| Eva D. Gregory, MD

Eva D. Gregory, MD was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. She graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Chemistry summa cum laude from Oral Roberts University. She completed her medical school training at Ohio State University in 1982. She spent 2 years in the combined Medicine/Pediatrics residency program in Rochester, NY before marrying and transferring to Brown University's Family Medicine Program. Always interested in rural and cross-cultural medicine, Eva worked at a rural health center for the Portugese/Cape Verdian people, spent 2 months in a hospital in Jos, Nigeria, and worked 3 years with the Alaskan Eskimos as a staff physician and medical director of the Village Health Care Services program. There she trained lay persons in remote communities to become their primary providers. She joined the SUNY Family Medicine Department in 1993 providing outpatient medical services at the Onondaga Nation Health Center, where she served as its medical director. She is looking forward to her new experience with the RMED program this year. She is married and has three daughters. She enjoys being a mom and chauffeur, playing most sports including volleyball, aerobics and cross-country skiing and playing her clarinet at church. |
