Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring a safe and health workplace for all members of the Upstate Medical University community. The office is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local health and safety laws. They are also responsible for the response to chemical spills, the safe disposal of chemical waste and fire safety. Environmental Health and Safety provides in-service training on health and safety issues, conducts safety inspections, develops safety policies and procedures, and serves as Upstate's liaison with the New York State Department of Labor and Department of Environmental Conservation.
