RPB Challenge Grant Award

John A. Hoepner, M.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the SUNY Upstate Medical University has received a four-year grant of $200,000 from Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) to spur the development of advanced research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of blinding diseases. RPB is the world's leading voluntary organization supporting eye research.

RPB Since it was founded in 1960, RPB has channeled more than $157 million to medical institutions throughout the United States for research into all blinding eye diseases.

The Department of Ophthalmology's Center for Vision Research is one of the worldwide leaders in the research of blinding conditions. Each of our scientists is internationally recognized and many are on the verge of significant breakthroughs in the war against blindness. We are extremely pleased to have received the support of this grant from RPB which will help in our quest to find the treatments and cures for many sight robbing diseases.
