About the Process"The success of a campus-wide initiative of this scale —Dr. David Smith
Phases of the ProcessPhase IV—Implementation of the Strategic PlanSteering committees and implementation teams have been developed to implement team recommendations, with Executive Sponsors assigned to each steering committee. More > Phase III—Review and Implement RecommendationsThe President's Office has been busy compiling, reviewing, and analyzing the work of the teams. We have distributed the team recommendations to the Executive Council Sponsors and their management teams for review and evaluation. The Executive Council Sponsors have created cross-functional teams to review the teams' work and make the recommendations to the President and his administrative team. More > Phase II—Presidential Task TeamsIn January 2007, Dr. Smith commissioned these five cross-functional Presidential Select Task Teams in the following areas: Faculty, Students, the Clinical Enterprise, the Research Enterprise, and Employer of Choice. He asked the team members to focus on issues specific to systems improvement, to help shape a shared vision and focus across our enterprise for our future initiatives, and to enhance our relevance as the employer of choice in our community, in service to our community, and to ourselves. More > Phase I—Environmental ScanThis initiative isolated and brought into focus processes that clearly facilitated Upstate's mission as well as identified those that created unique challenges and, in some cases, barriers or impediments to more rapid achievement of goals and objectives. The "Report on Environmental Scan" published in December 2006 for Upstate Medical University was the culmination of this intensive interview and research effort. More > |
