Accelerated Paramedic Training program
Residents of SUNY Upstate EM who hold a valid and current Emergency Medical Technician
certification may obtain their Paramedic level certification (NY and NREMT) by participating
in an accelerated paramedic course. Residents are part of a regular paramedic training
program, but are not required to attend all classes, such as those reviewing anatomy, physiology,
and pharmacology. Residents are required to attend skills related classes as well as content
not provided during their education as medical students.
|
External Clinical Opportunities
During the EM-2 and EM-3 years, residents are invited to provide medical services as part of
the medical team at such events as the K-Rockathon, Syracuse University athletics, and the
New York State Fair. During these events, residents have the opportunity to develop care and
management skills with limited available resources.
