APLS: The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Course is designed to provide a core knowledge in pediatric emergency medicine for health care providers. This course provides physicians, nurses, paramedics, dentists, respiratory therapists, and other allied health providers the information necessary to assess and manage critically ill or injured children during the first hours in the emergency department. This course goes beyond basic resuscitation and is designed to meet the advanced skills and knowledge levels of the physician dealing with serious pediatric diseases and problems in an emergency setting.
APLS is a two-day course providing a detailed survey on the evaluation and management of pediatric medical and surgical emergencies. The course content is primarily oriented toward emergency diagnosis and response. APLS is much more than just a course, it is an educational "tool kit" that has helped thousands of emergency physicians and pediatricians to improve the quality of care they provide to infants and children with emergency conditions.
APLS will offer physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other allied health professionals the information necessary to assess and manage critically ill or injured children during the first hours in the emergency department. Intended Audience
Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) represents a complete source of prehospital medical information for the emergent care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed specifically to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.
Prehospital professionals, emergency physicians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare providers who are responsible for the well-being of infants and children.

Registration Deadline
Registration forms and payment must be received no later than 14 days prior to the selected class date. Registration fee must be sent with the registration form to confirm attendance. All registrations are accepted and confirmed on a first come/first pay basis. Early registration is recommended although not guaranteed, as classes are limited in attendance. In the event that a class will accept registrations less than 14 days prior to the class date, registrations will only be accepted with a credit card payment.
Refunds/Cancellation
In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing to EM-STAT Center or via e-mail at alsctr@upstate.edu postmarked no later than 14 days prior to the selected class date. A refund will be issued minus a $25.00 administrative fee for all cancellations made more than 14 days prior to class date; no refunds will be issued thereafter.
A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged to any participant who has registered for a class but then requests to move to a different class. A person will not be allowed to start the class until this fee is paid.
SUNY Upstate Medical University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course at any time due to any unforeseen circumstances or limited attendance. A minimum of 12 confirmed registrants are required to hold a class. In the event of cancellation or postponement, SUNY Upstate Medical University will refund the registration fee associated with the class, but is not responsible for any related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.
