Tips for Dealing With Holiday Stress and Tension
Stress and Tension are normal reactions to events around us. The way we deal with these pressures has a lot to do with our emotional, physical, and mental health.
Here are some suggestions to get you started on managing the stress of this busy time of year
- Recognize your symptoms of stress.
- Look at your lifestyle and see what can be changed-in your work situation, your family situation, or you schedule.
- Use relaxation techniques- yoga, meditation, deep breathing, massage.
- Exercise- Physical activity is a great stress reducer.
- Get enough rest and sleep.
- Talk about your stressors- friends, relatives, counselors can all be good listeners. Call the EAP office at X5760.
- Help someone- Volunteer work can be effective and satisfying.
- Take one thing at a time- donít try to do too much at once.
- Donít try to be perfect.
- Have some fun!! Laugh and be with people you enjoy.
