Sample Drop-Off

Samples may be dropped off at the DNA Core Facility in Room 4840 in University Hospital on Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Plastic bags and blank DNA Sequencing Request forms are provided in a holder on the door of the laboratory. If the laboratory is unattended, samples can be placed in a plastic bag along with a completed DNA Sequencing Request form and the bag left in the bottom clear plastic holder on the door. Samples received by 11:00am will be run that same day.

If you have multiple samples, please have all at a similar concentration. Use sterile distilled H2O to dilute with—DO NOT dilute samples in TE.

Always send extra template and primer if possible so if a reaction does not work initially it can be rerun. Leftover samples will be saved and returned to the customer.

Templates can be submitted in any type of microtube, but should NOT be mixed together with the primer. Keep the primer separate in another microtube. Do NOT premix the template and primer. If a template is to be run with multiple primers, only one tube of template is necessary—you do not need to supply a separate tube of the DNA for each primer that you want to use. Just be sure to supply enough volume of DNA for all the reactions you want to have run (5.5 ul of DNA for each reaction, diluted to the correct concentration.)
