Appointments

Initial Appointments

Student seeking services can meet with Dr. Vanderhoff, the Director of Student Counseling, for an initial consultation. You can contact Dr. Vanderhoff at (315) 464-3120, extension 4, or via email at vanderhh@upstate.edu. Please note that messages left after business hours or over the weekends will be returned on the next business day. Most appointments occur within 5 to 7 school days of the initial call.

The initial appointment lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. During this time Dr. Vanderhoff will talk with you about your concerns and determine how Student Counseling can best assist you.

Please Note: No student can make an appointment for a fellow student. All appointments must be set up by the person seeking services. If you are concerned about a friend or fellow student, you may set up a consultation appointment with the Director to talk about your concerns.

Ongoing Services

If counseling services are recommended after the initial consultation, all appointments for ongoing counseling are scheduled between you and your counselor.
