Health Services

Student Health provides primary care including:

  • treatment for acute conditions, illness and injuries
  • annual health assessments and tuberculin skin testing
  • routine exams (GYN and pap smears)
  • contraceptive counseling; emergency contraception
  • physical exams and immunization updates for clinical activities
  • allergy injections
  • referrals to subspecialties, when necessary

Please see the Student Handbook for a comprehensive listing of services.

A number of over the counter medications are provided for colds, minor trauma and skin conditions. The Student Health fee covers the cost of some commonly prescribed medications when prescribed by the Student Health medical staff.

Appointments

Students without appointment (walk ins) are seen on a first come, first serve basis. It is to your advantage to make an appointment. With a scheduled appointment, more time can be set aside to meet your specific needs. Appointments should be made for long standing medical conditions. Example: Knee pain for one month.

Note: If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please notify Student Health.

Staff

Student Health is staffed by a physician, nurse practitioners, nurses and secretarial staff. Under routine circumstances the student will be seen by the nurse practitioner. If a problem requires a physician consultation, the Student Health physician will review the case and an appointment will be scheduled.
