Please refer to the Student Handbook for a comprehensive listing of our services. A number of over the counter medications are provided for colds, minor trauma and skin conditions. The Student Health fee covers the cost of some commonly prescribed medications when prescribed by the Student Health Medical staff. AppointmentsIt is best to call ahead make an appointment. Students usually can be seen on the day they call. More time can be set aside to meet your specific needs with a scheduled appointment. Appointments should always be made for assessment long standing non-acute medical conditions. Example: knee pain for one month. Students without an appointment (walk-ins) are seen on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. To schedule an appointment, call Student Health at 315 464-5470. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call to cancel. StaffStudent Health is staffed by a physician, nurse practitioners, nurses and secretarial staff. Under routine circumstances, the student will be seen by the nurse practitioner. If a problem requires a physician consultation, the Student Health physician will review the case and an appointment will be scheduled. Emergency careEmergency care is available at the University Hospital Emergency Department. Identify yourself as an Upstate student andnotify the Student Health Office the next business day. Your health insurance will be billed for Emergency Department charges. Urgent careUrgent care services (when Student Health is closed) are available at Crouse Prompt Care is located across from Crouse Hospital. Your health insurance will be billed for urgent care charges. |
