You will need an F-1 visa if you meet any of the following conditions:
If you do not have any other visa to permit you to enter the United States
If you are attending another school and currently have an F-1 visa
If you want to work on-campus
If you want to do Optional Practical Training after graduation
What do you need to obtain an F-1 Student VISA?
You must be accepted to attend one of the SUNY Colleges of Upstate Medical University.
You must plan to enroll and maintain a full time course load.
You must prove that you have sufficient financial support to pay for your educational costs and living expenses.
Please note that the University does not have financial aid for international students, except for Graduate Assistantships in the College of Graduate Studies.
If you are currently in the United States, you must have maintained lawful F-1 status.
If you need an F-1 visa, complete the Aplication for a Form I-20
The I-20 is a certificate from the school indicating eligibility for an F-1 visa. Attach any documentation that is requested; return the completed form to:
