The Dean's Office encompasses a variety of services. Students can visit this
office for assistance on academic advisement, career advisement, counseling,
transfer assistance, letters of recommendation, and assistance with problems
and concerns which are not handled by other offices. The Student Affairs staff
also works closely with the faculty on various institutional committees related
to curriculum development, academic policies, academic calendars and other
areas pertaining to academic programs.

The Admissions Office administers to the admissions process for the Colleges
of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions. This includes recruitment, interviewing,
and student selection. The office runs several special programs each year
designed for special target populations.

Campus Activities personnel handle authorization for payment of student organization
bills, monetary advances for student activity expenses, methods and procedures
for organizing events (contracts and reservations of campus space), event
registration on the master calendar of activities, alcohol policy and facility
capabilities as they relate to student events and activities.

This office organizes and facilitates volunteer and educational opportunities
with local agencies, schools and clinics as well as in underdeveloped countries.
Through their involvement with individuals in the multiple diverse neighborhoods
of Syracuse, students gain insight into a spectrum of socioeconomic and cross-cultural
parameters that impact the patient population that they treat. The global
health education program introduces students to cultural, social and political
factors as well as ethical concerns that accompany delivering effective and
sustainable health care initiatives in third world countries.

SUNY Upstate Medical University is fortunate to have an on-site child care center for the children of students and employees. The facility is adjacent to the campus activities building and is licensed for 46 children ages 8 weeks to four years. An adjacent classroom for twenty 4 and 5 year-olds is housed in Jacobsen Hall. The Child Care Center is open years round (with the exception of 8 major holidays) from 6:45 am to 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The Center's first priority is to care for the children of students, with slots reserved for their use. Tuition for full-time enrollment is based on a sliding scale for both the infant and toddler program and the preschool program. Part-time care is also available. The Financial Aid Office administers and coordinates all programs of financial aid including grants, scholarships, loans, and part-time employment available to students at the four colleges of the Health Science Center. The office also provides counseling to students about personal finance management and budgeting, debt management, financial aid eligibility and application procedures.

The Office of Student Support Services administers and coordinates services
for students including: disability services, campus judicial process (serves
as coordinator and advisor), student health and health insurance (serves as
chair for the Student Health Advisory Committee), university-wide career development
program, and the annual commencement and award ceremonies.

The mission of this office is to assist all students, especially students
of color and those from diverse backgrounds, in their educational and personal
transition and development at Upstate. The office provides academic and personal
advising as well as referral to other campus services. Staff members in Multicultural
Affairs coordinate diversity and cultural sensitivity training via curriculum
infusion, skill development workshops and leadership opportunities to assist
in the university-wide appreciation for multiculturalism and diversity.

The residence hall is staffed by the Assistant Director of College Housing with a background in counseling and student services. Clark Tower is staffed with Resident Assistants who live on each floor. The housing staff acts as a liaison between students, the faculty and the administration to help resolve any concerns or problems that may arise.

The Office of Student Affairs at the Binghamton Clinical Campus offers full
