Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS)
The VSAS is an Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) application
for 4th year clinical away electives. The service includes a searchable database
of electives, a short application, the ability to pay application fees online,
and tracking of offers and schedules. There are 63 schools participating in

Unique Elective Opportunities
Epidemiology Elective
Program (EEP) provides an introduction to preventive medicine, public health
and the principles of applied epidemiology to senior medical and veterinary
students. Elective students have the opportunity to assist with epidemiologic
investigations of infectious diseases, cancer, congenital malformations, environmental
and occupational diseases, injuries, chronic diseases and reproductive health.
The elective is offered September through early June. Assignments are for a

Wilderness Medicine at Weill-Cornell Elective. Two-week elective available to

US-Mexico Border Health Scholars Program Univ.
of Texas HCS San Antonio - South Texas Environmental Education and Research
(STEER). Unique field elective at the U.S. - Mexico Border for students enrolled
in U.S. MD/MPH, medical, public, and other heatlh profession degree programs.
4 week electives available at Laredo and Harlingen TX. Applications available

National Institutes of Health Resident
and Medical Student Electives Clinical Electives Program (CEP) Structured
clinical electives and customized research electives for third and four year
medical students (1-3 months duration). Applications available on a continuous
basis and must be received three months before the anticipated start date: http://www.training.nih.gov
Global Electives for Medical Students and Pre-Meds
with Child Family Health International. Spend 4 or 8 weeks working with local
doctors in a variety of healthcare settings. www.cfhi.org
