It is the mission of Vera House to end all domestic and sexual violence, to assist families in crisis, to support those affected by domestic and sexual violence, to empower women and children, and to promote a culture of equality and respect in relationships. Vera House offers comprehensive emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, referral, and educational services to individuals in crisis.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

Crisis Call Volunteer

Program Description: Provide coverage of a crisis hotline to give emotional support and information regarding domestic violence and sexual assault. You must be capable of supporting and actively listening to those in crisis due to sexual assault, domestic violence, abuse.
Program Duration: 10-15 hours per month plus training

University Hospital Advocate

Program Description: Offer crisis intervention services to those affected by sexual assault. Involves nighttime and weekend coverage of crisis hotline, including both phone and face-to-face crisis advocacy at University Hospital. Must have your own transportation.
Program Duration: 2-3 shifts per month plus training
