We organize and facilitate local volunteer and educational opportunities for SUNY Upstate students at schools, clinics, and other community organizations. These outreach activities in the many diverse neighborhoods of Syracuse allow students to gain insight into a spectrum of socioeconomic and cross-cultural parameters that may impact the patient population that they treat. Become a fan of Community Outreach and Our office also guides and advises students pursuing global health initiatives during their academic career. In addition to participating in a global health elective and lecture series at SUNY Upstate, our students are also active in the global community. The global health education program introduces students to cultural, social and political factors as well as ethical concerns that accompany the delivery of effective and sustainable health care in foreign countries. |
