The
characteristic picture of adenocarcinoma is 3-D groups and/or syncytial
groups with nuclear overlapping and crowding. The nuclei are enlarged,
have powdery chromatin, central macronucleoli, nuclear irregularities,
and apparent anisonucleosis. The cytoplasm is eccentric and often
is vacuolated (finely or large).
These cells have an increased N/C ratio. (40x, pap stain, sputum)
