Ferruginous Body
Ferruginous Bodies arise when iron salts cling to fibrous dusts that are inhaled. They are typically golden, appear as if beaded, and have rounded ends. Ferruginous bodies are usually surrounded by macrophages. These bodies appear when asbestos, fiberglass, and/or carbon are chronically inhaled. (40x, pap stain, sputum)
