Respiratory Atlas

This atlas was designed as an extra learning tool to help cytotechnology students through their respiratory section. The set up of this atlas is quite simple, just click on the area that you want to review. At the top of each page are the names of the pictures within that section. When you are through reviewing that picture click on the name of the next picture that you want to review. When you are done reviewing one section click on another section in the left hand column and proceed from there.

Some hints to keep in mind as you look at any respiratory case:

1. Nothing really ever looks like what is in the book, so refer to your criteria

2. If you see cilia normally it is benign or reactive

3. Take note of the groupings, is it 3-D or a flat sheet

4. Review the history, is there a prior malignancy or has the patient experienced recent heart trouble

5. Mostly importantly, cancer doesn’t read the books and can look like most anything so rely on your criteria
