Board Meeting Minutes -– June 13, 2012

Attendance:Melissa Clemens, Bonnie Miner, Nancy Lyon, Donna Parks, Roberta Rolland, Robin Salvaterra, Joyce Scarpinato, Kathy Steinmann, Elizabeth Urban.

1. Call to order - 5:10 PM - Welcome and introductions

Headquarters offers leadership training sessions targeted towards various roles. The website has a new Tools and Resources Page: www.nursingsociety.org > Chapter Information >Tools and Resources.

2. Officer Reports

• President’s Report –
  
• Vice President’s Report – Fall Program: deferred
  
• Treasurer’s Report –
  • Revised budget discussed – main funding comes from membership dues.
  • Audit planned for this fiscal year.
• Secretary’s Report –Website update – officers etc/ research chair – contact Sanju to help with update

3. Committee Reports

• Governance Report – Research Advisory Group Chair – standing committee vs. elected position – Need more input from research advisory group.
• Leadership Succession Report – Search for prospective candidates throughout the year – 2013 positions: president –elect, VP, treasurer, faculty counselor, leadership succession, and governance
  
• Faculty Counselor’s Report -
  • INDUCTION: Penciled in for Friday November 2, 2012 – Weiskotten Auditorium   - Speaker – Donna will contact Suzanne LaVere Herbst, RN, MA
    
  • Orientation – Friday evening October 27th 5:00 – 7:00 and Saturday 9:00-11:00 – Liz will check availability and details for Oasis and Donna will check on Crouse. Need PC  and internet access
• Research Advisory Group - deferred
• Delegate Report – Donna Parks reported on the Bienium. Please see the report on the CON Omicron Alpha website. Please view the incoming president’s call to action, Suzanne Prevost, PhD, RN, COI, Give Back to Move Forward - 2011–2013 Presidential Call to Action.

4. Region 11

President meetings with regional coordinator – used to be quarterly  - watch for newsletters

5. ANNUAL REPORT

Due beginning of August. Donna and Roberta will meet in July to work on report.

Old & New Business

1. Walk to End Alzheimer’s  -aturday September 29, 2012 – Long Branch Park – Roberta will contact Patty Stewart.

2. Amaus Sock Drive - Donna working on – Sock it to em

3. Quality Coach Lines – SAVE THE DATE:  2012 NYC Saturday December 8th – 56 passenger bus - mild price increase with this year’s contract – Price increase for passengers – $55-STTI members, $60 – non-members. Roberta will check contract before confirming passenger price.

4. Membership - Strategies - Roberta is interested in working on Membership/Communication. Liz will put together a newsletter. Discussed a possible survey of how members would like to receive information ( email, postal, facebook)
